ACTIVITIES OF JHALAK
Education
In order to create a Knowledge-based Society, we endeavor our full efforts to extend the following support to a few financially insolvent students :
- To protect drop-out of the students we undertake Motivational Program for the students as well as for their parents.
- Provide Study Materials viz; Books, Khatas, Pen, Pencils etc.
- Bearing of Tuition Fees of the Poor students.
- Providing of extra care/coaching for the weaker-students.
- Arranging Elementary Education for Adults at night.
Health Service
To ensure minimal health services to the ultra-poor of our community we carry-out the following regularly :
- Free Health Check-up camp;
- Free Eye Camp with cataract operation & providing of optics;
- Mobile Phone Doctoring through Hot-line;
- Providing blood to the hapless;
- Providing First Aid to the misfortune ones.
Trade Course to develop Skillfulness
In order to transform the Idle Vagabond into workforce, we undertake different trade courses e.g. Sewing Machine operation, Computer literacy, electrical know-how, auto mechanics, driving , cottage-handicrafts making etc for the street urchins/unskilled youths of the locality to change their lot through financing from our benevolent fund. In the mean-time we imparted training to about 85 youths (male/female) as skilled ones and now they have become self-reliant. Nonetheless, the trained skilled youths are contributing financial support to their families.
Social Awareness
As a part of Social Responsibility we initiated the following Social Awareness program through symposium/seminars/workshop on regular basis :
- Family Planning
- Mother & Child Health
- First Aid Training
- Disaster Management
- Sanitation
- Motivation to Drug Addicts.
Tree Plantation Program
We know land of 20% of the country should be covered by trees for balancing the environment. Keeping in mind this essential aspect, we take-up the Tree Plantation Program on every calendar year. We distribute the saplings to our volunteers and neighbors for planting by the road-side, filed-line and in the unused land of our locality. We take-up vigorous training camp for volunteers for Planting Trees and Nursing them on regular basis.
Volunteering Service - Natural Disaster
We, without any hesitation and delay attend the naturally affected people e.g.:
- Provide Food and Medicine to the Flood Victims
- Reconstruction of dwelling houses of affected poor through physical assistance of the volunteers.
- Cloth distribution to the Cold Affected hapless street people
- Volunteering Service for Evacuation in case of Flood, Earthquake, Landslide and out broken of Fire.
Library
There is no alternative to study for a good society. Out of urgency on this fact, we emphasize to run a Library for the people of all stratum in our locality. In the library, the underprivileged and poor students are specially provided with the minimal facility to continue their learning and making their respective school-work.
Science Club
To run with the pace of present-world, we have been running a Science Club for Meritorious ones of our locality. The students take part on different competitions accelerating their up-dated understanding & starve for excellence.
Blood Donation
Dedicating life for the cause of others – (“Manush manusher jonya”) keeping this motto in mind we arrange Blood Donation Program thrice in a year. Further we maintain a list of Blood Donors (Volunteers/members of Jhalak) who always remain standby to donate blood for any serious patients of the locality.
Sports & Cultural Program
We know it is imperative to engage in sports and cultural activities to possess sound health and sound mind. Keeping this thing in mind, we arrange different sports and cultural functions on the nationally important days for the underprivileged children of our locality. Nevertheless, we participate in the national events.
